Men's Retreats

Small-group residential retreats for men. Breathwork, honest circle work, time outside, and room to put things down.

Why a weekend off doesn't usually change much

Most men only stop when something makes them. A holiday, an illness, a bad month. Even then the phone comes too, and so does the habit of holding everything together. You can understand your patterns perfectly well and still repeat them on Monday morning. Reading about it doesn't shift much. Talking it through over a pint doesn't either. What tends to help is time. Proper time, away from work and home, with other men who aren't putting on a front either. A few days where nobody needs anything from you. That's what these retreats are for.

How a men's retreat with me runs

Each retreat is residential and runs over several days. I keep groups small, so nobody gets lost in the crowd. The days build. The first is slow: arriving, settling in, getting to know each other and agreeing how the group will treat one another. The middle days go further, with longer breathwork sessions and more time in circle. The last day is about going home: what you're taking back with you and how you'll keep it going. The main practices are breathwork, simple movement and body-based work, and sitting in circle and speaking honestly. Around that there's time outdoors, good food and real rest. Nothing is forced. You decide how far you go in any session, and you can slow down or step out at any point.

What a day on retreat actually looks like

A typical middle day looks something like this. Morning. Up early, tea, a short walk. Phones stay away. Breath practice. A short morning breathing session to start the day. Breakfast together. Circle. Each man says where he's at, plainly, and the others listen. No advice unless it's asked for. Lunch, then free time. Sleep, walk, read, sit by the fire. The main breathwork session. You lie down, I guide the breathing, there's music. Afterwards there's time to talk about what came up. Dinner. Evening fire. Some nights there's talking, some nights it's quiet. Early to bed. It isn't a boot camp and it isn't a holiday. There's more rest built in than people expect, and that's on purpose.

Who this retreat is for, and who it isn't

This is for you if: You carry a lot and rarely put it down. You've done some work on yourself already (therapy, a men's group, a lot of reading) and want time to go further with it. You're curious about breathwork and would rather try it properly than from a video. You want honest company with other men, without the bravado. It's probably not right for you just now if: You're in crisis or need clinical support. Please start with your GP or a therapist. I'm a facilitator, not a therapist. You're hoping someone will fix you over a few days. You have a health condition that makes intense breathwork risky, such as a heart condition, epilepsy, recent surgery or some mental health conditions. Tell me first. Sometimes the practice can be adapted. You don't need any experience. If you're not sure, that's what the free call is for.

Who's running it

I'm Leon. I've been practising breathwork since 2017 and I've done more than 500 hours of breathwork training. I'm also an ISTA Level 1 to 3 graduate. I run Brothers in Breath, men's circles in Shropshire. I've facilitated men's work internationally and worked with hundreds of men, including at Brotherhood Lodge in Dorset in September 2025, alongside Chris Kazamias. For most of my life I didn't have men I could be honest with. I had colleagues, friends I drank with, people I performed for. Sitting in a circle where nobody had to pretend changed that. I run these spaces because I needed one. I'm not anyone's guru. My job on retreat is to keep the group safe, keep the days on track, and stay with you if things get hard.

Questions men usually ask

Q: Do I need to have done breathwork before? A: No. I explain everything as it happens, and the first sessions are gentle. Q: Is breathwork safe? A: For most people, yes, but not for everyone. I ask about your health before you book, and you can slow down or stop at any time. If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, epilepsy, glaucoma, are recovering from surgery, or have a history of serious mental health difficulties, tell me on the call and I'll talk it through with you. Q: Do I have to share in the circle? A: No. Listening counts. You can pass whenever you like and nobody will push you to speak. Q: Is there plant medicine on the retreat? A: Not as standard. If anything ceremonial is ever offered, it is stated clearly on the event page before anyone books, it only happens where it's lawful, and it is always optional. Q: What happens when I get home? A: If you want to keep going, there are Brothers in Breath circles in Shropshire, online men's groups, and one-to-one work with me. Q: How much does it cost? A: Each retreat's price goes on its event page with the dates and venue. I'll go through it with you on your free call, so there are no surprises.
